Zeaxan Side Effects by Ingredient
Zeaxan's 11 ingredients mostly carry mild side effects, such as stomach upset or headache.
Ginkgo may add to blood thinners, cinnamon to diabetes medication, and green tea extract can lower nadolol and atorvastatin. If you are pregnant, nursing, under 18 or have a medical condition, ask a physician first.
Next, see who it suits.

Does Zeaxan have side effects?
Zeaxan has no side-effect data of its own, so the honest guide is its 11 ingredients. Most are common, and most side effects reported for them are mild, like stomach upset or headache.
The bigger issues are medicines. Ginkgo, cinnamon and green tea extract each have a known interaction. The label also names people who should ask a physician first. Both are covered below, one ingredient at a time.
The label prints a 600 mg proprietary blend with no amount for each ingredient. So we can only work out the most there could be of each.
Zeaxan side effects, ingredient by ingredient
The table lists each ingredient in label order with its known side effects and the medicines to ask about. Blend ingredients are listed from most to least by weight, which gives each one a ceiling.
| Ingredient (label order) | Most per serving | What is known about side effects | Medicines or situations to ask about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Himalayan Pink Salt | 600 mg | Salt adds sodium. It is not an eye nutrient and has no special safety data as a supplement. | Count it if a doctor has put you on a low-sodium diet. |
| Cinnamon Extract | 300 mg | Research does not clearly support cinnamon for any condition. The label does not name the species. | It may add to diabetes medicines, so blood sugar could drop further. |
| AGP Choline | 200 mg | Very high choline intakes can cause a fishy body odor, sweating and stomach upset. The upper limit for adults is 3,500 mg a day. | Add up choline from other supplements you take. |
| Bacopa Monnieri (20%) | 150 mg | Bacopa may cause stomach upset. Its research is about memory and processing speed, not eyes. | Take it as directed if your stomach is sensitive. |
| Lutein (5%) | 120 mg of material | If the 5% marks a 5% material, lutein is at most about 6 mg. The AREDS2 study used 10 mg a day. | Add it up if you already take an eye vitamin with lutein. |
| Bilberry Leaf Powder | 100 mg | NCCIH says bilberry leaves may be unsafe in high doses or with long use. | Ask before long use, and before surgery. |
| Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine) | 86 mg | Long use of high doses can harm nerves. The adult upper limit is 100 mg a day. No amount is printed. | Add up B6 from a multivitamin, B-complex or energy drinks. |
| Gingko Biloba Powder | 75 mg | Ginkgo may cause headache, stomach upset or skin reactions. No condition has conclusive evidence behind it. | It may add to blood thinners like warfarin. Stop and ask before surgery. |
| Vitamin B12 (as cyanocobalamin 1%) | 67 mg of a 1% form | No upper limit is set for B12. The 1% form means the real B12 is a small part of this weight. | No interaction is flagged in the sources used here. |
| Zeaxanthin (5%) | 60 mg of material | If the 5% marks a 5% material, zeaxanthin is at most about 3 mg. AREDS2 used 2 mg a day. | Add it up if you take another eye formula. |
| Green Tea Extract (50%) | 55 mg | Rare liver injury has been linked to green tea extract capsules. The label does not say if it has caffeine. | It can lower levels of nadolol and atorvastatin. Ask if you have liver disease. |
The sources are federal health agencies and a published review. Ginkgo facts come from NCCIH, 2025. Green tea extract facts come from NCCIH, 2025 and EFSA, 2018. Bilberry leaf comes from NCCIH, 2024, vitamin B6 from NIH ODS, 2023, cinnamon from NCCIH, 2024 and bacopa from Kongkeaw et al., 2014.
Salt sits first on the list. That means it is the largest single ingredient by weight, at least 55 mg and at most 600 mg. Read more in why salt is listed first.
Which medicines matter most with Zeaxan?
Blood thinners, diabetes medicines and two heart or cholesterol drugs matter most. If you take any of them, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before the first capsule.
Blood thinners
Ginkgo may add to the effect of warfarin and similar drugs. That can raise bleeding risk. It also matters before surgery.
Diabetes medicines
Cinnamon may add to medicines that lower blood sugar. Watch for shakiness, sweating or confusion, and ask your doctor about it.
Nadolol and atorvastatin
Green tea extract can lower blood levels of nadolol, a heart drug, and atorvastatin, a cholesterol drug. The medicine may then work less well.
Other B6 sources
Count B6 from every product you take. The upper limit is 100 mg a day, and Zeaxan does not print its amount.
Bring the bottle along. A pharmacist can check the full ingredient list against your medicines.
What does the Zeaxan label caution say?
The side panel caution names who should talk to a physician first and says the product is for adults only. Here it is word for word, including the label’s own spelling:
Note the word “know” in “a know medical condition.” It is a typo on the bottle for “known.”
The label also says not to use the bottle if the safety seal is damaged or missing. If yours arrives that way, do not open it. Call the Zeaxan order desk instead.
Who should not take Zeaxan?
People who are pregnant or nursing and anyone under 18 should not take it without a physician’s go-ahead, per the label. The label says “Adult Use Only.”
- Pregnant or nursing: the label says to consult a physician first.
- Under 18: the label says adult use only.
- Anyone on a blood thinner, or with surgery coming up, because of the ginkgo.
- Anyone with liver disease or past liver problems, because of the green tea extract.
- Anyone on diabetes medicine, unless a doctor has checked the cinnamon.
- Anyone with a known medical condition: the label says to consult a physician.
If none of these fit you, the next step is plain. Take the label dose of 2 capsules a day between meals, not more. See how to use Zeaxan for the full routine.
Eye symptoms need an eye doctor, not a supplement
Blurry vision, eye pain, flashes of light, new floaters or any sudden change in sight need an eye exam. Do not wait to see if a capsule helps.
Regular dilated eye exams are the way eye problems get found. Your eye doctor will tell you how often you need one.
Set expectations too. The large AREDS2 study used 10 mg lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin with other nutrients, in people who already had intermediate age-related macular degeneration. The National Eye Institute says AREDS showed no benefit for people without the disease or with early disease. Zeaxan is a different formula with unknown amounts. The lutein and zeaxanthin guide explains the gap.
What to do if you feel unwell on Zeaxan
Stop taking it and call your doctor if something feels wrong. Do not push through a rash, bleeding or yellow skin.
Stop the capsules
Put the bottle aside. Do not double up to catch up on missed days.
Note what happened
Write down the symptom, the day it began and anything else you took that week.
Call a professional
For bleeding, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, or severe belly pain, get medical care the same day. These can be signs of liver trouble.
Report it
You can report a problem with a dietary supplement to the FDA through its safety reporting portal.
Tell the order desk
Call the Zeaxan order desk with your order ID. Ask about the 60-day guarantee if you want a refund.
Keep the bottle and its lot number. The lot and best-before date print on the base when the bottle shows them. They help anyone who looks into a report.
Zeaxan side effects: common questions
Can Zeaxan upset my stomach?
It can. Bacopa and ginkgo are both linked to stomach upset. The label says to take 2 capsules between meals. If your stomach objects, ask your doctor before changing how you take it.
Is Zeaxan safe with warfarin?
Ask your doctor first. Ginkgo may add to the effect of blood thinners like warfarin and raise bleeding risk. The label does not say how much ginkgo is in each serving.
Can the green tea extract hurt my liver?
Rare liver injury has been linked to green tea extract capsules. EFSA found liver markers rose at 800 mg of EGCG a day or more. Zeaxan has at most 55 mg of a 50% extract, far below that. Stop and see a doctor if you notice yellow skin or dark urine.
Does Zeaxan have caffeine?
The label does not say. Green tea extract can contain caffeine, but the amount depends on how it was made. Call the order desk if caffeine is a concern for you.
Can I take Zeaxan with my multivitamin?
Often yes, but add up vitamin B6. The adult upper limit is 100 mg a day, and Zeaxan does not print its B6 amount. Show both labels to a pharmacist.
Can I take more than 2 capsules for faster results?
No. The label says, word for word, “Do not exceed recommended dose.” More capsules also mean more ginkgo and green tea extract.
